Square

Steps
- 1Update the Square POS app to version 6.84 or later
- 2In Dashboard, open Settings → Early feature access and install Cash rounding
- 3Cash totals round to the nearest 5¢ (symmetric); card and digital are charged exact
- 4Receipts show a "Cash Rounding" line item; tax reporting stays accurate
Now an open beta any U.S. seller can enable (up from the Dec 2025 invite-only pilot) — not yet general availability. Unavailable to sellers with a Connecticut location; some states also require customer notification.
Shopify POS

- 1Update to Shopify POS 10.1 or later
- 2Cash rounding applies automatically and cannot be disabled
- 3Uses Swedish rounding method on final total after discounts and taxes
- 4Currently supports CAD, AUD, NZD, EUR, DKK, SEK, NOK — not yet USD
USD was not yet supported as of our last check — Shopify has tied it to U.S. rounding rules settling; applies to cash payments and refunds only

Toast

- 1In Toast Web, go to Finance → Related → Settings → Cash Rounding (requires Payments Setup permission)
- 2Choose a mode: round to nearest nickel, always round down (guest's favor), or always round up
- 3Rounding applies to cash only, when change is given; card and digital stay exact
- 4Verify the adjustment displays on guest checks
Toast now offers a native cash-rounding feature for the U.S. penny phase-out — no longer in beta
Clover

No native U.S. cash rounding yet, but Clover has confirmed it is building one — check for updates
Aloha (NCR Voyix)

- 2Check "Enable rounding" and set "Round to" 0.05
- 3Choose rounding method (Nearest Up or Nearest Down)
- 4Enable "Display adjustment" to show rounding on guest checks

SpotOn
