IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

CommonCentsAct.com is for educational and informational purposes only. This website is not an official government website and is not directly affiliated with any governmental agency. The content on this site should not be construed as legal advice or official policy.

1. Introduction

CommonCentsAct.com ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using our website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways:

2.1 Information You Provide

We collect personal information only when you submit it through one of our forms:

  • Newsletter signup: your email address and the page you signed up from
  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message
  • Feedback surveys (business, bank, and non-profit "share your challenges" forms): your survey responses and any contact details you choose to include, plus an optional newsletter opt-in

2.2 Usage Data

The limited usage data we handle:

  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand aggregate site usage such as which pages are visited and overall traffic trends. It sets first-party cookies (for example, _ga) and collects information such as the pages you view, your device and browser type, and approximate (city-level) location; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your full IP address. We have not enabled Google's advertising features or ad-related data sharing. For more detail, see Google's Privacy Policy; you can opt out across all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Hosting logs: our hosting provider (Netlify) processes standard server logs, including IP addresses, to serve and secure the site
  • Download tracking: when you download one of our free resources, we record the file requested, the page it came from, your browser's user-agent string, the referring page, campaign tags if present, and a one-way hashed identifier derived from your IP address — we do not store your raw IP address

2.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We do not use advertising cookies, web beacons, or ad-tracking pixels. The cookies in use are:

  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to measure aggregate site usage. They do not identify you by name and are not used for advertising.
  • Essential cookies: for example, a session cookie for the site administrators' login area.

You can opt out of analytics at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer; your choice is stored in a first-party cookie and remembered on future visits. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the opt-out add-on. Opting out does not affect your ability to browse the public site.

3. How We Use Your Information

We may use the information we collect about you for various purposes, including to:

  • Send you newsletters and updates about the Common Cents Act
  • Respond to your inquiries and communications
  • Monitor and analyze website usage and trends
  • Improve the website's functionality and user experience
